Are We a Good Fit?
Let's figure this out together. We're not for everyone, and that's perfectly fine. We'd rather have an honest conversation now than waste your time (or ours) if we're not the right match. This page exists to help you self-assess whether we're the right partner for your IT business, or if you'd be better served elsewhere. Read through these questions. If you find yourself nodding along to most of them, we're probably a good fit. If you're thinking "that's not me" to most of them, we're probably not. Either way, you'll have clarity.
Have you already tried consultants and it didn't work?
If yes, you're in good company. Most IT business owners we work with have been burned before.
But here's the fit question: are you willing to try again with someone who's actually from the IT channel world?
We've worked in MSPs and ran operations for the oldest IT MSP community group in the UK. We understand the vendor relationships, the Christmas Eve emergencies, the mid-project departures. We're not generic business consultants trying to apply corporate frameworks to your world.
If your previous consultant experience has made you cynical about anyone offering help, and you're not open to the possibility that someone from your industry might approach it differently, we're probably not a good fit. You need to be willing to engage, even if cautiously.
But if you're thinking "I'd try again if someone actually understood IT businesses," then we might be right for each other.
The fit indicator: Are you willing to work with someone again if they prove they understand your reality? If yes, keep reading. If no, we're not right for you yet
Are you sceptical of frameworks because you've tried them before?
Fair enough. EOS, Scaling Up, whatever else you've tried, they probably felt like forcing a square peg into a round hole.
Here's what you need to know about fit: we don't ask you to adopt someone else's framework. We start by asking what you actually want your life to look like, then build around that.
If you're looking for a pre-packaged system that you can just implement without thinking, we're not a good fit. Our approach requires you to get clear on your own definition of success first. That takes work and honesty.
If you're the type who wants to be told exactly what to do without understanding why, or you want a framework you can just "set and forget," we're not right for each other.
But if you're thinking "I'd be willing to build something that's actually designed for my reality rather than adapting someone else's corporate playbook," then there's potential here.
The fit indicator: Are you willing to do the upfront work of getting clear on what you actually want before building systems? If that sounds exhausting, we're not a match. If it sounds like exactly what's been missing, keep reading.
Are you worried your team will resist change?
They probably will. At first. Technical people especially are sceptical of "business consultants."
But here's the fit question: are you willing to lead through that resistance?
We can earn their trust by understanding their world and showing them how changes make their lives easier. But you need to hold the line and not revert to old patterns when it gets uncomfortable.
If you're the type who backs down at the first sign of pushback, or you're looking for someone to come in and be the "bad guy" whilst you stay the good cop, we're not a good fit. This work requires you to lead, not delegate the difficult conversations to us. Whilst we are happy to 'take a bullet' for our clients; it needs to support longevity!
We'll support you. We'll facilitate. We'll use Working Genius to help your team understand where they naturally contribute. But ultimately, you're the leader of your business.
The fit indicator: Are you willing to have difficult conversations with your team and hold them accountable to change? If you're looking for someone to do that for you, we're not right for each other.
You're already using another framework, should you start over?
Not necessarily, but it depends on your mindset.
If you're dogmatically attached to your current framework and see any changes as abandoning it, we're not a good fit. We need flexibility to keep what works and fix what doesn't.
If you're thinking "our framework has good bits but it's not quite working for our IT reality, and I'm open to adapting it," then we can absolutely work together. We've helped several EOS clients reinvigorate their systems rather than replacing them.
The fit indicator: Are you pragmatic about your current framework, or emotionally invested in it? We need pragmatism.
Does everything escalate back to you?
If yes, here's the uncomfortable truth: you're part of the problem.
Your team escalates because you've trained them to. Every time you swoop in to save the day, you reinforce that they should wait for you to fix things.
The fit question: are you willing to acknowledge your role in this pattern and change your behaviour?
We can help you build role clarity, create systems, and use Working Genius to get people in the right seats. But if you're going to keep jumping in to fix everything the moment it gets uncomfortable, none of that matters.
If you're looking for a solution that doesn't require you to change how you operate, we're not a good fit. If you're willing to create space for your team to own things (even if they initially make mistakes), then we can work together.
The fit indicator: Are you willing to step back and let people struggle a bit whilst they learn? If you can't resist swooping in, we'll just be creating systems you'll undermine.
How patient are you?
Because that determines if we're a good fit.
Some things change quickly. You'll have clarity on your next critical steps within 30 days. Some clients have gone from daily anxiety attacks to none after getting that clarity.
But rebuilding foundations takes time. Getting the right people in the right seats isn't instant. Building trust within a leadership team can't be rushed. Creating systems that actually work takes iteration.
If you're looking for a quick fix or you need results this month to avoid going under, we're not a good fit. You need emergency stabilisation, not foundation rebuilding.
If you're willing to invest focused time over months to build something sustainable, knowing that each step builds on the last, then we're probably right for each other.
The fit indicator: Are you willing to commit to a 3-month minimum to see meaningful change? If you need everything fixed in 4 weeks, we're not your solution.
Can you commit the time?
This work requires genuine commitment. Not 60-hour weeks, but focused time that isn't optional.
Initial workshops, then weekly 60-90 minute sessions. For ongoing support, a few hours per week for leadership meetings and planning.
If you're thinking "I'm too busy for that," we're not a good fit. You're too busy precisely because you haven't invested time in building proper foundations. This is how you get less busy.
If you're thinking "I can carve out focused time if it means getting my evenings back," then we can work together.
The fit indicator: Can you commit to showing up consistently for 90 minutes per week? If that feels impossible, you're not ready yet.
Are you in the IT channel?
If you're not an MSP, VAR, SaaS provider, Vendor, or IT solution provider, we're not a good fit. Full stop.
This focus is deliberate. It means we understand your world intimately. the vendor relationships, the reactive client work, the technical team challenges, the complexity of balancing BAU and projects.
If you're outside the IT sector thinking "but my business is similar," it's still no. We're specialists for a reason.
The fit indicator: IT channel only.
Not sure if you're ready?
Book a call. We'll tell you honestly.
Sometimes you're not ready because you're in pure survival mode. Sometimes you're more ready than you think. A 30-minute conversation will give us both clarity.
We'll tell you if we're not the right fit. We'll tell you if you need to do something else first. No pressure, no hard sell, just honest feedback.
The fit indicator: If you're uncertain, that's actually a good sign. It means you're being thoughtful. Let's talk.
What are we both committing to?
Us: Once we've completed the work together, you'll have absolute clarity on your next critical steps, or we keep working until you do. No additional fees.
You: Actually implementing what we build together.
We can't guarantee your team will magically transform overnight. We can't guarantee your clients will suddenly become reasonable. We can't make you do the work.
If you're looking for someone to guarantee specific outcomes regardless of your effort, we're not a good fit. This is a partnership. We bring expertise and clarity. You bring commitment and follow-through.
The fit indicator: Are you looking for a partner or a miracle worker? We're the former, not the latter.
Do you just want your life back, not necessarily to scale?
Good. That's a perfectly legitimate definition of success, and it makes you a better fit than someone chasing growth for growth's sake.
Most frameworks assume you want more revenue and more headcount. We don't. We start by asking what you actually want your life to look like.
If success for you is a profitable 10-person business that lets you finish at 5pm and take proper holidays, that's absolutely fine. We'll build everything around that vision.
If you're unclear on what you want and you're willing to do the work to figure that out before building systems, we're a good fit.
If you already know you want to scale to 50 staff and exit in three years, we're also a good fit.
The only poor fit is if you want us to tell you what you should want. That's your job to figure out. We'll help you get clear, but we can't want something for you.
The fit indicator: Are you willing to get honest about what you actually want (not what you think you should want)? If yes, we're aligned.
The Honest Assessment
We exist to help leaders see what they can't see for themselves, so they can unlock the potential that was always there. Not because we're trying to build a consulting empire, but because the ripple effects are real. Your team gets to do meaningful work. Your family gets you back in the evenings. Your clients get better service. Your industry benefits from leaders who prove there's a better way. If you're nodding along to most of what you've read here, we're probably a good fit. If you've been thinking "yeah, but..." to most of it, we're probably not. Either way, you've got clarity. And that's the point.
You're probably a good fit if...
- You run an MSP, VAR, Vendor, SaaS, or IT solution provider (3+ years trading, typically 3-20 employees)
- You're the bottleneck and everything runs through you
- You're working 60-70 hour weeks earning less than you should
- Your team doesn't take ownership, and you're willing to admit you're part of that problem
- You've tried frameworks before but you're willing to try something built for IT businesses
- You're missing life with your family and genuinely want that to change
You're willing to face uncomfortable truths about what's broken - You can commit focused time (90 mins/week minimum) for at least 3 months
- You'll do the work of getting clear on what you actually want before building systems
- You're looking for a partner, not someone to do it all for you
- You're willing to lead through change, not delegate difficult conversations
You're probably not a good fit if...
- You're outside the IT channel (no exceptions, even if your business is "similar")
- You're looking for a quick fix or need results in under a month
- You want someone to tell you what to do without understanding why
- You're not willing to invest focused time in building foundations
- You're in pure survival mode needing emergency stabilisation
- You're dogmatically attached to your current framework
- You want us to be the "bad guy" whilst you stay the good cop with your team
- You'll keep swooping in to save the day instead of letting your team own things
- You want someone to guarantee miracles regardless of your effort
- You're actually fine and just comparing yourself to others
- You're a brand new startup (under 3 years)
